Phil Hellmuth Wins Borgata Winter Poker Open Heads-Up Event

The all-time WSOP bracelet leader, Phil Hellmuth tasted his first victory this year at the Borgata Winter Poker Open by taking down the Borgata Event #16 $1590 Heads-up tournament. In doing so he added $37,248 to his $23 million+ lifetime tournament earnings.

The event with a cap of 64 players featured a best-of-three format and some of the best heads-up players in poker including Joe McKeehen, Anthony Zinno, Olivier Busquet, Alex Queen, and Athanasios Polychronopoulos.

The Poker Brat defeated six players including Wenhao Ying, Tim Reilly, Travis Greenawalt, and Joey Cappello in a final heads-up battle which lasted for three hours.

This also turned out to be Phil’s first Borgata Poker Open trophy.

Right after his win, Phil jumped straight into the $3 Million GTD WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open Championship event.

Continuing his great run, he has now made to Day 2 of the Championship event along with another 662 players.

The tournament will play down to its final six players on January 31. The Final Table will be moved to Las Vegas at the newly launched HyperX Esports Arena at Luxor Hotel & Casino.
