Same Player Wins SCOOP High Main Event for the Second Year in a Row

Austrian-based Italian player Gianluca “Tankanza” Speranza has done something that has perhaps been never done before on PokerStars.

On Monday night, Speranza took down the SCOOP High $10,300 buy-in Main Event for the second straight year in a row. He won the very same event in 2018 for $1.13 million after outlasting 654 total entries.

This year’s edition saw another 650 plus entries to smash its $5 million guarantee by over 30%. After two days of play, it was once again “Tankanza” who emerged victorious to take home another $1 million payday after agreeing to a heads-up deal.

This incredible feat is being described as “arguably the most unlikely online poker result ever documented,” by PokerStars.

In fact, another Austrian player “nailuj90” made his second final table back to back. Last year, “nailuj90” finished in the second position but this year he had to settle for the fifth position.

This is not the only SCOOP event that Speranza won this year. Just five days before his Main Event victory, Speranza also took down SCOOP Mini Super Tuesday for over $80,000. He joins the ranks of 15 players to have won two SCOOP titles this year.
