Film To Be Made About 2017 November Niner, John Hesp

Usually stories published in The Daily Mail should be taken with a pinch of salt—but we are hoping this one is true.

John Hesp, who hit the headlines during the 2017 World Series of Poker due his rages-to-riches story is getting a film made about his life! A retired caravan salesman and granddad from the Northern England, and never having bet more than £10 on a game of poker in his life, Hesp decided to enter the WSOP Main Event on a whim. He then ended up finishing fourth in the competition, bagging $2,600,000 tax free dollars.

Hesp told The Mail: “‘I feel blessed to have achieved this great success and truly hope my story will inspire others to have fun playing poker as that was my mood throughout my amazing run last year.” He hopes George Clooney or Tom Hanks will be slated to play him. Watch this space. Here’s hoping that it icould be the next Molly’s Game.

Emmy-award winning Marc Ambrose is producing the project. “Mr Hesp is such an engaging, charismatic and funny guy. A feel-good story set against the backdrop of poker is hard to find and the fact that it’s a true story is quite unbelievable. Most poker movies are about the dark and seedy side to the game, but this story flips that right on its head.”
