Unibet PKO Series Finishes Strong

The PKO Series from Unibet wrapped up at the end of last month, and by all accounts was a great success for the independent poker room, who for the first time ran a standalone Progressive Knockout Series.

Unibet had guaranteed €225,000 across 32 events with buy-ins range between €5 to €200, with the bulk of events between €10 to €25.

They ended up smashing this guarantee by paying out a total prize pool of €291,560.

Just before the Series wrapped up Unibet gave Poker Industry PRO some behind-the-scenes stats on how the series was going. Spoiler: It was going very well.

Now thanks to the great success of the series Unibet are adding in an additional PKO edition of the High Roller Big Bang €5,000 guaranteed event that will run every Thursday. It will have a buy-in of €200.

Heads Up Grudge Match Ends As BFF Love Story

Doug Polk and Daniel Negreanu have been trolling each other for years.

It all started with the phrase that reverberated around the [poker] world: More Rake Is Better. It ended with a heads up grudge-match.

The match, which has seen the pair play 25,000 hands of heads-up $200/$400 no-limit hold’em, has finally come to close.

Polk won, claiming $1.2 million as part of the victory. But maybe his biggest prize: friendship. The pair have finally put the past behind them, and were surprisingly amicable as things came to an end.

Stars to ACR: Chris Moneymaker Joins Americas Cardroom as Team Pro

ACR is the US-facing offshore online poker network of WPN.

In a shock announcement at the end of last year, Chris Moneymaker told the poker world that he was parting ways with PokerStars after 17 years as a team pro for the site.

Fast-forward a month and Moneymaker is now the face of Americas Cardroom (ACR) a US-facing offshore online poker site—quite a u-turn from working with the highly regulated PokerStars.

However according to Poker.org, Moneymaker said of the move: “I heard what [ACR] was doing, and I heard all the improvements they’ve been making to the site and how they’re fighting bots. And basically to me it seemed like PokerStars did back in 2004, 2005. They’re really trying to grow the game.”

Here you can watch the ACR crew, made up of Micheal Loncar, Jeff Boski, Ryan DePaulo, Drew Gonzalez, Eboney Kenney, John Pardy and Justin Kelly; all welcoming Moneymaker to the site.

PokerStars’ Last Remaining Indian Team Pro Muskan Sethi Bids Goodbye

PokerStars loses yet another Team Pro.

Last week, Muskan Sethi, who was the last remaining ambassador to represent PokerStars India, bid farewell to the company.

Sethi was appointed as PokerStars sponsored pro right after PokerStars.IN, operator’s segregated online poker room in India went live nearly three years back.

Before becoming PokerStars sponsored pro, Sethi was honored by the President of India in January 2018 with First Lady — a prestigious award in India which felicitated 112 women who have been the first to achieve a milestone in their respective fields.

She was recognized as the first female professional poker player in India.

Her departure comes just days after Celina Lin who represented Team Asia also departed from the company.

Prior to Lin’s exit, Chris Moneymaker along with a trio of streamers under the name OP-Poker, French live player Kalidou Sow, and Russian online pro Mikhail “innerpsy” Shalamov ended their partnership with PokerStars on the last day of 2020.

She now becomes the eighth Team Pro member to have their contract end in a matter of a month.

PokerStars roster is now down to just nine members.

Not just Sethi, but Nikhil Segel, a Platinum Pass winner, who represented PokerStars India as their player representative also parted ways with PokerStars India.
