Chris Ferguson Enters First World Series of Poker Event Since Black Friday

Setting foot in The Rio All Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas for the first time since Black Friday in 2011, ex Full Tilt Poker exec, Chris “Jesus” Ferguson entered the $10,000 Seven-Card Stud Championship in this year’s World Series of Poker.

Ferguson’s appearance comes shortly after Howard Lederer finally issued a public apology for this handling of the Full Tilt Black Friday crisis through Daniel Negreanu’s blog.

Causing a stir by his presence, PokerNews asked why he had stayed away from the WSOP for so long and if he was also going to issue a public apology for his part in the Full Tilt fiasco—however Ferguson refused to comment apart from to say that “I’m just here to play poker.”

Layne Flack, six-time WSOP bracelet winner spoke up in defense on Ferguson, saying:

“Chris Ferguson has done a lot of great things for poker. He’s a standup guy, and all the decisions made by Full Tilt Poker don’t fall on him. I firmly believe he didn’t take one dime from anybody. It’s just not in his nature. It’s more in his nature to give everything to everybody, than take anything from anybody, and that’s a fact.”

The $10,000 Seven-Card Stud Championship finishes later today with Ferguson not making the cut. The Final table looks like this, with Robert Mizrachi firmly in the lead.
